Improving public health through access to information

In May 2006, the UW Health Sciences Libraries received major funding from the National Library of Medicine for:

Serving the Community

Regional Medical Library staff provide training, technical assistance and funding to enhance health information access for underserved health professionals and communities in the NN/LM PNR. Funding awards support local health information outreach and partnerships, such as:

  • African American Reach and Teach Health Ministry (WA)AARTH Graphic
    • The Access to Wellness Project provides AARTH with the tools and resources necessary to access culturally relevant health information.
  • Outside In (OR)Outside In Graphic
    • Staff learned how to find and evaluate health information on the Internet and to teach the skills to the population they serve.
  • Voices of Hope (MT)Voices of Hope Graphic
    • This planning award considered how health information resources could be part of a comprehensive suicide prevention plan.

  • Labor Day Weekend Hours
    HSL will be closed Saturday - Monday (Aug 30- Sep 1, 2008) in recognition of Labor Day. It will remain open until 7 pm on Friday, Aug 29, 2008 and reopen at 7:30 am Tuesday, Sep 2, 2008.

    Electronic resources remain available through HealthLinks.

  • Changes in HSL Hours
    HSL will be closed on the weekends and on Aug 27th during the summer interim (Aug 23- Sept 1) and begin Autumn Quarter hours on Sept 2, 2008. For a full description of hours, services and exceptions, please visit the Library Hours web page.
  • Opening Doors: Contemporary African American Academic Surgeons Exhibit on Display
