InfoShare is a self-service method of sharing documents with UW students,
faculty or staff using ERes, the electronic course reserves software.
How to Get Started
- Contact the Reserves staff at HSL hslres@u.washington.edu to discuss the project,
including the title and the names of the administrators who have permission
to work on the files.
- Get the URL for the project from the Reserves staff.
- Consider copyright and patient confidentiality laws.
- If you choose to share copyrighted materials you have several
options.
- Do not post confidential patient information. Even
using additional passwording options, the ERes software is not
secure enough for confidential patient information.
- Plan the structure of your site. Documents may
be organized in a single level of folders or listed individually.
In general, folders and documents are interfiled alphabetically by
title. However, more customization is possible.
- Add documents.
- If an electronic document is available:
- If you have hard copy of existing publication:
- Scan the publication to convert it to pdf and transfer it
from your PC to ERes using built-in ftp function, or
- Use the ERes fax-to-pdf module to
add the publication.
- Create a document on the fly using ERes.
- Publish location of ERes page (URL) or link it to a Web
page. Your participants can also search for your page from
the ERes search screen at https://eres.lib.washington.edu/.
- Keep your site up-to-date. Pages are automatically
archived at the end of each quarter unless you renew them.

with more details are available.
If you have any questions, please contact Reserves staff at hslres@u.washington.edu or your library
