K. K. Sherwood Papers

Accession No. 4143-2: transcriptions of the GUIDE and the INVENTORY

THE GUIDE

K. K. Sherwood (Kenneth Kyler) was a Seattle physician who was born in 1902 and died in 1971. He was Medical Director of Harborview County Hospital and later General Superintendent of the King County Hospital system, retiring in 1963. He was a member of the King County Medical Society and chaired its historical committee. He served on and chaired the Governor's Council On Aging ca. 1965.

Sherwood's papers consist largely of historical records and writings collected or created either on behalf of the KCMS or as a result of Sherwood's personal interest in the history of Northwest medicine. They include records of King County Hospital and King County Medical Society, histories of KCMS, and other historical writings and articles. Sherwood's geriatric research materials were put in the Washington Governor's Council On Aging archive, together with reports and records of the council.

The K. K. Sherwood papers came to the Libraries as a collection from the University of Washington Medical History and Ethics Department on March 25, 1992.
