To create an environment which supports the teaching and acquisition of independent learning skills including information retrieval and management, critical thinking and problem solving skills. IDEAL is the UW model which supports this goal.

Objectives

• Create fully integrated clinical, research and educational databases to support individual, interactive learning at all levels of health sciences education (undergraduate, graduate, continuing education and professional staff development).
• Provide incentives for faculty to participate in the development of integrated instructional programs.
• Ensure appropriate understanding and application of information technology by faculty in their teaching roles.
• Promote student access to computing resources including hardware, software and databases.
• Work with curriculum committees in the various schools to identify appropriate strategies.
