June 2003
In response to the need to secure the Health Sciences Building a new entrance to the Health Sciences Library will be constructed on the third floor. This new door will allow direct access to the library from the outside (Nursing Courtyard) after 7:00PM and weekends. When completed, this will be the ONLY public entrance to the Library during all HSL open hours; there will no longer be a public entrance on the second floor.
This change requires major shifts in services and collections. In order to reorient library services to the new entrance, we will be moving some books to HSL closed stacks and the remainder to the HSL second floor. The entire journal collection will also be shifted over the next three months. To accommodate these shifts, we will begin removing some shelves and extending others during the week of June 23-27. Construction of a new information desk and staff moves to support the new space configuration will occur at a later time probably during Fall Quarter after the new door has been installed. We will provide updates as this planning moves forward as well as directional signage within the building as the changes occur.
If you have any questions during this time, please contact the Health Sciences Library (hsl at u dot washington dot edu or 206-543-3390). Please bear with us during this time of significant change in the Health Sciences Library.
Thank you,
Sherrilynne Fuller, PhD
Director
