Health Sciences Libraries Classes
and Tours
Every quarter the Health Sciences Libraries offer several one hour
classes on how to use various information resources. The
following is a sampling of Winter quarter classes: Beyond PubMed -
Health Sciences Databases; Basic EndNote 5: Bibliographies Made Easy;
Introduction to Finding Funding; Keeping Current; Web of Science/JCR.

class list plus details on what else is available, including customized
classes.
Systematic Reviews in
PubMed
Systematic Reviews, a new search filter available from the Clinical
Queries screen in PubMed, retrieves citations for systematic reviews,
meta-analyses, reviews of clinical trials, evidence-based medicine,
consensus development conferences, guidelines, and citations to
articles from journals specializing in clinical review studies.
The resulting retrieval can be further refined using Limits, e.g.
English language. Note: outside of the Clinical Queries screen,
this subset can be searched by adding AND systematic [sb] to other
search terms. For example, lyme disease AND systematic [sb]
NewsRX File
Available
Looking for business or consumer information relating to drugs,
chemicals, biotechnology, science, medicine and health?
Lexis/Nexis Academic Universe has added a new file, NewsRX, covering
about 25 news publications on these topics. Contents are
available within 5 days of publication.
To search NewsRX, select Lexis/Nexis Academic Universe from the
HealthLinks Databases A-Z page and click on the Medical button.
Then click on the Medical News button to get the search form.
Enter your search terms in the keyword box and NewsRX in the
additional terms box, then click on search.
