Keeping Current: Current Contents, UnCover Reveal, BioMail, PubCrawler,
and PubMed Cubby
**********************************************************************
Automated Alert Services
Automated alert services automatically deliver current citations or the
table of contents of selected journals directly into your email. Some
examples of these useful services are Zephyr, Uncover Reveal, BioMail, and
PubCrawler.
Alert services provide you with information on the current literature in
your field[s] of interest. This is especially useful as citations are
indexed more rapidly than many other bibliographic databases.

Do It Yourself Services
Do it yourself update services, such as PubMed Cubby, allow you to store
searches that you want to check later for new retrievals. This type of
service is not automated, so you need to remember to regularly run your
stored searches yourself.
PubMed Cubby Registration required.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/cubby/login.fcgi?call=so.SignOn..Login
The Cubby provides a Stored Search feature on PubMed that allows users to
store and update up to 100 searches. Once a search is stored in the Cubby,
users can
at any time check to see if their search retrieves any new citations.
Searches are stored until deleted.

services.

Bioethicsline moving to PubMed
******************************
The journal citations you searched in the Bioethicsline database are being
incorporated into PubMed. This means that a separate Bioethicsline
database will no longer be available. Bioethicsline will be completely
searchable in
PubMed, which includes being searchable as a PubMed subset. All of the
unique monographic data from Bioethicsline will be moved into NLM's
LOCATORplus.

Older version of WebSPIRS is phased out
***************************************
The older version (3.1, no Javascript) of WebSPIRS is no longer available
because of a security flaw in the program. If you would like help
searching databases using the newer version, WebSPIRS 4.3 (the current
default), feel free to contact your library liaison.

NATURE - Electronic Access
****************************
Access to the electronic version of Nature and the Nature specialty titles
(Nature Biotechnology, Nature Cell Biology, Nature Genetics, Nature
Immunology, Nature Medicine, Nature Neuroscience and Nature Structural
Biology) at the UW was suspended beginning March 5 to review the new
license.
The main discussion points are:
* A 3 month delay for some of the content; in effect everything except
original research articles which are available immediately; and
* pricing based on FTE (i.e., potential users rather than actual users)

Negotiations are continuing. We hope to have a resolution by the end of
April. While several libraries have "just said no" (e.g.,University of
Michigan), the other viewpoint is best expressed by the Weill Medical
Library of Cornell (see:
http://lib2.med.cornell.edu/Library/HTML/nature.htm).

Thank you for your patience as the UW HSL continues to work to provide
access to the scientific literature. We would like to hear your comments
and concerns. Please send them to hsl at u.washington.edu

Bioethicsline moving to PubMed - Later
**************************************
As announced in the Mar 12 mailing of HSL-News, the journal citations you
searched in the Bioethicsline database are being incorporated into PubMed.
This transition is in progress but will not be completed until late spring
or summer.
Until this transformation is complete, the Bioethicsline database remains
available through the Internet Grateful Med interface
(http://igm.nlm.nih.gov/cgi-bin/doler?account=++&password=++&datafile=bioeth
icsline). For assistance in using Bioethicsline, contact your library
liaison or HSL Information at 543-3390.
