Gift Acceptance Policy

Monetary Gifts and Endowments

Monetary gifts assist the Health Sciences Libraries to purchase extraordinary items or support programs which are beyond the means of our budget yet are essential to ensuring a state-of-the-art Library. Endowments help to support the long-term development of new programs, services and collections of the Library.

Please contact Neil Rambo, Acting Director, at (206) 543 5531, nrambo@u.washington.edu to discuss monetary or endowment gift opportunities.

You can also make a direct donation to the Health Sciences Library funds here.

Material Gifts

The Health Sciences Libraries (HSL) appreciates how specific material gifts can enhance our collections. The HSL does not physically receive gift books and journals, however we can work with you to make sure your gift is carefully reviewed for possible inclusion into the collection. Newly published as well as significant historical books may be selectively accepted. Journal issues or volumes which fill in gaps in our holdings may also be considered.

All potential material gifts must be discussed in advance with the Manager of the Gifts Program to determine if they are in scope for the Libraries' collection. The donor of any books or journals which are accepted will be directed to the University of Washington Libraries (UWL) Gift Program to complete the gift process.

Tax and appraisal information can be found here.

For additional questions about the Health Sciences Libraries' collections contact Lisa Oberg at 206-543-7492 or lisanne@u.washington.edu.

Thank you for your interest in donating the University of Washington Libraries.
