The University of Washington Libraries is hosting a national exhibition based on Mary Shelley's classic novel, Frankenstein, March 4 through April 13, 2005. The University of Washington was chosen as one of 80 public, community, college and medical libraries throughout the United States as an exhibition site. The exhibit explores the role of scientific experimentation and the importance of exercising responsibility toward individuals and the community in all areas of human activity, including science. The exhibit also explores the life of the author, literary and historical aspects of the novel, as well as our big screen fascination with Frankenstein's monster. The exhibit was developed in 1997-1998 by the National Library of Medicine (NLM), located in Bethesda, Maryland, in association with the American Library Association (ALA) and the National Endowment for the Humanities.
