Document Services at the Health Sciences Libraries (HSL) can provide copies of journal articles or book chapters and book loans for a fee. See the price list for details on fees charged. (Please note: Non-Health Sciences UW clients must order their materials through Interlibrary Loan).
Turnaround time is normally 24-48 hours, Monday-Friday, for items owned by the University of Washington (UW) Libraries. Please allow up to two weeks for delivery of items not owned by the Libraries. Citations for items requested should be as complete as possible to ensure faster processing. Rush service is available during the week for an additional fee by indicating rush on your request. For materials owned by HSL, rush requests can usually be filled within four hours. For materials not owned by UW, rush items will be processed as quickly as possible. There is no additional rush fee for materials needed for patient care emergencies; just state clinical emergency on your request.
Requests are accepted in accordance with current copyright laws and guidelines. Clients must comply with copyright restrictions. Copying which exceeds the law or fair use guidelines may require payment of a Copyright Clearance Center fee.
Requests must be submitted on-line (http://healthlinks.washington.edu/hsl/docservices/illiad.htm) or via Loansome Doc. Clinical emergencies may be requested by phone at (206) 543-3436. Information about Loansome Doc registration can be found at: https://healthlinks.washington.edu/hsl/docservices.
Payment for requests may be made by UW budget number, HSL deposit account, or direct billing.
