The Health Sciences Libraries (HSL) offer a variety of photocopy services. Assistance is available for disabled users.
Self-Service Copying
Self-service copiers are located on both floors of the Health Sciences Library.
Copies cost $.15. All copiers accept Jamex Copy cards. There is one copier on the 2nd floor which takes dollar bills, nickels, dimes and quarters. A bill changer is located near the copiers on the second floor of the Health Sciences Library.
Change is available from the Health Sciences Library Cashier from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on weekdays.
Pull and Copy Service
See Document Services for details.
Copy Cards
Photocopies are $.15 per page. Black and white laser printing is $.10 per page. Color laser printing is $.75 per page. Health Sciences Library copiers and printers accept cash and Jamex copy cards. Copy cards may be purchased from the cashier in any amount from $5 to $50. Cards may also be purchased and re-valued from vending machines on the 2nd and 3rd floors in any amount from $1 to $25.
Payment for copy cards may be made by UW budget number, cash, check, Mastercard, or Visa. Vending machines are available during all hours the Health Sciences Library is open. Cash, check, credit card, and budget sales are accepted during cashier hours only, 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on weekdays.
Since copy cards are prepaid debit cards, they are treated as cash. No refunds are given for non-defective cards.
Laser Printing
Laser printing is available from public computers in the Health Sciences Library. Black and white printing costs $.10 per page. Color printing costs $.75 per page.
See instructions for printing to the Health Sciences Library printers from a personal wireless laptop running Windows XP, Windows Vista or Apple OSX.
Color Scanning
As an alternative to color photocopying, high quality scanning is available for UW users in the Microlab. This service also is only available to UW users, not non-UW users. Self-service scanning is only available on a drop-in basis. Two important caveats for this process are the time it takes to scan and print an image (10-40 minutes) and that users need to possess general computer knowledge. Additionally, the length of time required can be significantly affected by the complexity and size of the scan.
Due to the time investment involved, there is limited technical support for scanning and it is only recommended for experienced computer users.
Other Options
Color copying is also available through UW Copy Services in UWMC room NW-079, the Communications Building Copy Center and the Odegaard Undergraduate Library Copy Center.
