Reserving Classrooms A, B, and C

UW health sciences academic courses and UW academic faculty development classes that require hands-on use of computers may reserve Classrooms A, B or C at no charge on a space available basis.

When not reserved for classes, the classrooms are available for drop-in use by health sciences students, staff and faculty.

Reserving the Library Teaching Lab

UW Health Sciences Libraries classes have first priority for use of the LTL. During the last week of June, all of September, and the first two weeks of October, non-library groups can reserve these classrooms no earlier than Monday of the desired week. During the rest of the year, non-library groups can reserve these classrooms after the first two weeks of each quarter for the current quarter.

UW health sciences academic courses and UW academic faculty development classes that require hands-on use of computers may reserve the LTL at no charge on a space available basis after the first two weeks of each quarter for the current quarter. These classrooms are not available for quarter-long, regularly scheduled meetings of academic courses.

Other university or medical center departments or groups sponsored by a university or medical center department may reserve the LTL on a space available basis after the first two weeks of each quarter for the current quarter for $70/hour. Payment must be made by University budget number.

When not reserved for classes, the LTL is available for drop-in use as a quiet study area by health sciences students, faculty, and staff after 6pm and on weekends.

Room Policies

  • This document outlines general policies regarding room use. We reserve the right to make exceptions to these policies. If you feel an exception is warranted, contact Paul Ludecke.
  • UW academic faculty development classes are defined as instructional sessions designed to enhance the teaching skills of UW instructors, such as the Communications Skills Seminars offered by Health Sciences Center for Educational Resources.
  • All instructors should attend a fifteen minute room orientation prior to using a classroom. The orientation will be scheduled at the time of the reservation if necessary. This orientation may be waived if the instructor has used a classroom previously.
  • No reservation is final until specifically confirmed by library staff.
  • Classrooms are not available for events that are not affiliated with a university or medical center department.
  • Classrooms are only available during regular library hours, starting one half hour after opening time and ending one half hour before closing time.
  • Availability of classrooms during quarter breaks and holidays will vary at the discretion of the lab manager.
  • Classrooms can be reserved for no more than ten hours per week unless special arrangements are made with the lab manager.
  • Preparation for classes requires at least one half hour between uses of the classrooms.

An instructor may claim the instructor station at any time to prepare for a class.

  • The classrooms are used "as is." If technical problems arise during weekend or evening use, no one is on call. The level of problem that can be solved is limited to the knowledge of the lab staff on duty. It may not be possible to resolve issues related to networking.
  • Installation of course-specific software or files may be granted on a space-available basis subject to approval of the lab manager.

Installation on lab machines or servers should be regarded as a last-resort method. Preferred methods would include distribution via the web or on departmental-based servers, giving students the widest possible access. Course-specific software or files must be available to the lab manager for testing compatibility no less than two weeks prior to the reservation. Course-specific software or files must function well within the standard lab configurations for either Windows XP or Mac OS X computers. This functioning must be tested and approved. Any software or files found to conflict with standard lab configurations will not be installed.

Installations will be completed at least several days prior to the reservation date. The reservation contact person will be notified by the lab manager who will schedule a meeting to test the software. The reservation contact person should be available at a mutually agreeable time at least one week prior to the class. If problems are detected, lab staff will correct the problems before the class starts, or identify those problems which aren't correctable. If the reservation contact person does not come to test the software prior to class, lab staff are not responsible for support on the day of class.

  • Laser printing is available. Instructors and class participants must pay for printing with cash or a Jamex copy card.
  • After using a classroom, please report problems with equipment or any other aspect of the room to Paul Ludecke. Include the number of the malfunctioning computer in your message.
  • Food and uncovered beverages are not permitted.
