BioResearcher Tune-Up

An intensive 3-day orientation on NCBI Online, a commercial bioinformatics software package, and advanced topics in the field taught by scientists working in the genomics field.

Objectives

At the end of the session, participants will have:

  • An understanding of key NCBI online tools
  • Practical training in the use of Sequencher, a commercial scientific sequence assembly tool from Gene Codes
  • An advanced update on important topics in areas such as gene expression

Dates and Times

  • February 25th, 1-5 PM: Module I-NCBI Online Tools
  • February 27th, 1-5 PM: Module II-SEQUENCHER Tutorial/WorkShop
  • February 29th, 1-5 PM: Module III-Advanced Topics
      A. Tour of ISIS Human Simulation Facility at UW Surgery Pavilion

Location and Registration

  • Open to UW students, staff and faculty. NOTE: non-UW individuals will be considered on a case-by-case basis, and if selected may be charged a fee to attend
  • Meet in the Library Teaching Lab, in the HSL Microlab
  • Limited to 12 participants, who will participate in all three days as a single group
